This trip takes you from Rome to the Gulf of Naples, where Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, devastating the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Leaving Rome by the Highway of the Sun, we will cross the regions of Lazium and Campania passing through the famous Montecassino snd its Abbey. Once there, a brief panoramic tour of Naples: Piazza del Municipio where we find the Maschio Angioino, the castle (symbol of Naples), built by the house of Anjou in the thirteenth century and enlarged in the fifteenth century by the Aragonese family. The Palazzo San Giacomo –the Town Hill, the facade of the S. Carlo theater , Galleria Umberto I, built in the late nineteenth century in a neo-classical style, Piazza del Plebiscito, where is located the Royal Palace(built in the seventeenth century). Opposite the monumental Basilica of S. Francesco di Paola. After a brief visit, we go to Pompéi. Lunch in a typical restaurant and then visit of the cameos and corals craft workshops. Later on we will visit the archaeological excavations of the famous Roman city, buried in 79 AD by the eruption of Vesuvius. Back in Rome around 21h00-21h30.
